Samuel
is from Seattle, Washington. He joined the Milwaukee Symphony as
Assistant Principal/Second Trombone in September, 2010. Previously he
served as Principal Trombone of the Symphony in C in Camden, NJ, and
performed as a sub/extra with the Philadelphia Orchestra while pursuing
a Bachelor’s of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of
Music, studying with Nitzan Haroz. He began playing trombone in
elementary school in Seattle, focusing primarily on jazz until high
school, and attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for one
year, studying with Mark Lawrence, before moving to Philadelphia. He
has been a finalist for principal trombone positions with the Vancouver
and National Symphony Orchestras, and, during summers between school
years, attended the Pacific Music Festival, National Orchestral
Institute, Music Academy of the West, and the Tanglewood Music Center.
